Des jeunes influenceurs, activistes et membres d’associations de jeunesse de Mauritanie, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroun et Togo se sont réunis au Togo le 12 au 14 août 2024 pour un atelier régional organisé dans le cadre de l’activité ExpandPF, financée par l’USAID. Cet événement, qui coïncide avec la Journée internationale de la jeunesse, vise à mobiliser les jeunes en tant qu’agents de changement pour accélérer l’accès à la planification familiale et aux soins de santé sexuelle et reproductive en Afrique.
Pendant trois jours, les participants auront l’occasion de se former, d’échanger et de co-créer des solutions concrètes. Ils développeront des compétences, partageront des idées et formuleront des stratégies pour surmonter les obstacles culturels et sociaux qui freinent l’accès aux services de santé pour les jeunes, en particulier les jeunes femmes.
L’objectif est de doter ces jeunes acteurs d’outils pratiques, notamment numériques, afin qu’ils puissent mener des initiatives locales, nationales et régionales visant à transformer leur monde et à forger leur avenir.
La cérémonie d’ouverture des travaux, présidée par Dr. Josée Apetsanyi, Représentant le ministre de la Santé du Togo, a été marquée par des interventions d’appels à l’action, notamment celles de Mme Awa Sarr d’Etrilabs et de Mme Anita Kouvahey-Eklu de l’activité ExpandPF, qui ont souligné l’importance d’intégrer les jeunes dans les efforts de transformation sociale.

Reproductive health in Africa: Youth from ExpandPF activity countries attend regional workshop in Togo
Young influencers, activists, and members of youth associations from Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and Togo gathered in Togo from August 12th to 14th, 2024, for a regional workshop organized as part of the ExpandPF activity, funded by USAID. This event, coinciding with International Youth Day, aims to mobilize young people as agents of change to accelerate access to family planning and sexual and reproductive health care in Africa.
Over the course of three days, participants will have the opportunity to receive training, exchange ideas, and co-create concrete solutions. They will develop skills, share insights, and formulate strategies to overcome the cultural and social barriers that hinder access to health services for young people, particularly young women.
The goal is to equip these young actors with practical tools, including digital ones, so they can lead local, national, and regional initiatives aimed at transforming their world and shaping their future.
The opening ceremony, presided over by Dr. Josée Apetsanyi, representing the Minister of Health of Togo, was marked by calls to action, notably from Ms. Awa Sarr of Etrilabs and Ms. Anita Kouvahey-Eklu from the ExpandPF activity, who emphasized the importance of integrating youth into social transformation efforts.
